Interior payment schedule format
A payment schedule format for interior projects, with each payment tied to something you can see on site. Enter the contract value; the amounts, GST and balance work themselves out.
Free, no signup. Put your studio's name at the top and change anything that doesn't fit how you work.
The schedule
| Milestone | Share | What you can see on site |
|---|---|---|
| On signing the agreement | 40% | Signed agreement and approved BOQ. |
| Materials delivered to site | 30% | Boards, laminates and hardware on site, photographed and counted against the BOQ. |
| Installation complete | 20% | Carcasses and shutters fixed in every room; services connected. |
| Handover | 10% | Joint walk-through done and snag list signed. |
- Variations are billed on their own, when the client approves them — never added to the last milestone, where they become something to argue about at handover.
- GST is charged on each milestone invoice, not on the contract total at the start.
- Keep the last tranche small. A client holding back 10% over a chipped shutter is an annoyance; one holding back 30% has all the leverage.
50% advance, 50% on completion
It reads simple and leaves you funding the middle of the job. Spend on an interior is front- and middle-loaded: boards, hardware and labour are paid for long before handover. Tie each payment to something a person can stand in the room and see, not to a percentage of completion, which is an opinion and will be a different opinion on the day you invoice.
Houscade keeps this schedule on the project, marks each milestone paid as the money comes in, and shows the client what is paid and what is due on their own link. Read why this ladder works.
